Baggage Policy

Due to the cargo hold capacity limitations of the aircrafts currently operated by Sunrise Airways, it is necessary that Sunrise Airways restricts the amount of baggage carried by its passengers. This will help us offer a more consistent and reliable baggage delivery service to passengers adhering to the baggage limitations.

Domestic/International Flights: 23 kg (51 lbs.) per passenger

With effect from 01 October , 2013 the free baggage allowance for all Sunrise Airways services will be one piece at a maximum of weight as follows, per adult or child passenger.

The maximum overall size per piece will be 62 inches (157 cms).

In addition passengers will be allowed one piece of cabin baggage at a maximum weight of 11lbs. (5 kg.) and maximum overall dimensions of 37 cm x 25 cm x 20 cm. These dimensions include wheels, all pockets and handles.

Checked-in baggage should not include items listed in note 1 and Sunrise Airways accepts no liability for such items.

BAGGAGE MAXIMUM WEIGHT LIMIT

For health and safety reasons, Sunrise Airways will not accept as checked baggage any one piece weighing more than 70lbs (32 kg.) or measuring in excess of 62 inches (157 cm.)

EXCESS BAGGAGE - CONDITIONS

Extra pieces of baggage (that is pieces in excess of the above allowance) will be subject to excess baggage charges and will only be accepted on a space available (standby) basis. Perishable items will not be accepted as standby baggage.

All Excess Bags Will Be Tagged As Standby

Baggage taken on a standby basis will be accepted with the understanding that Sunrise Airways is not liable for delays in the transportation of the baggage to its destination. Also Sunrise Airways will not accept responsibility for the customs clearance and/or the ground transportation cost incurred by passengers for the collection of stand by baggage. (See fare range for fees)

Embargoes - busy periods

In addition to the foregoing, Sunrise Airways places additional limitations on checked baggage at specific times of the year as well as travel at certain times to/from specific markets and this is referred to as an embargo. During embargo periods only a maximum of two checked bags will be accepted. Additional bags may be accepted only at the station manager's discretion.

System-wide Embargo periods are:

·       December 01 to January 15

·       July 01 to September 10

Information on embargoes which are market specific will be circulated at least one month in advance of the effective date.

Cabin bags, ladies vanity or cosmetic cases and others articles which do not visibly accord with the description of personal articles must be considered as cabin baggage or an item of checked baggage, depending on the size/weight of it.

Golfing equipment, boxes and fishing equipment will be accepted as baggage in lieu of a piece of standard baggage.

You will need to produce your ticket and boarding pass as the baggage identification sticker/number is placed on this document. This will aid in tracing the bags’ whereabouts. You will also be required to complete and sign a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) Form (Please note that this must be done before leaving the airport at Lost and Found area).

If the bag/s has been delayed you would be offered two options:

2. Return to the airport to collect your bag/s

Conditions as they apply to each option:-

1. You will need to complete and sign a Passenger Declaration Form, advising Customs that Sunrise Airways has been given permission to clear the bag/s on your behalf. The airline personnel can clear your bag/s only if the contents are non-dutiable. In this instance the bag/s will be sent to the address provided, without charge.

2. If the contents are deemed dutiable by Customs you will be required to come to the airport to clear your own bag/s, if you chose to return to the airport to collect your bag, you will be reimbursed for your travel costs (as per Sunrise Airways company policy).

If your baggage has not been located within seven (7) days, a claim should be filed with the airline. At this point, a secondary search will be initiated. You will be contacted immediately should we be successful in locating your baggage. On the other hand, if our efforts are to no avail, your claim will be settled in accordance with the applicable international conventions.

Claims for interim expenses due to delayed delivery of baggage / claims for missing baggage must be filed within twenty-one (21) days.
